Performer Bios
Kristen Bauer
Kristen Bauer is a music specialist at Kennedy Community School in St. Joseph and an adjunct professor of music at St. Cloud State University. She also directs the children’s choir at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She was a member of Twin Cities based group “The Singers: MN Choral Artists” for 8 seasons and occasionally still subs in for projects. Kristen is also involved in many St. Cloud based groups including GREAT Theater, playing violin in the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra, and the Amadeus Chamber orchestra. Kristen also enjoys working out, Zumba, fishing, rock climbing, biking, camping, and spending time with her husband and two children.
Jody Martinson
Jody Martinson is the former Artistic Director and Conductor for the Minnesota Center Chorale (2009-2017), and the Director of Music and Liturgy at Church of the Holy Spirit. Jody has appeared as a vocal soloist for many organizations, including Minnesota Saints Chorale, St. John's Boys' Choir, St. Cloud Municipal Band, Rock City Jazz Band, Minnesota Center Chorale, Great River Chorale, Bach Society of MN outreach program, Sauk Center Community Choir, and the CSB/SJU Orchestra. She has also performed in several GREAT Theatre productions, as well as performing a repeating role of "Mother" in "Amahl and the Night Visitors" with Bethlehem Strings. Jody is a graduate of the College of Saint Benedict (B.A. Vocal Performance and Music Education), and of Saint Cloud State University (M.M. Choral Conducting.) She has been a private voice teacher since 1997, and maintains an active studio. Jody lives in St. Cloud with her husband Todd, and is a proud mom to Jakob and Caleb.
Kristen Mattick
Kristen Mattick has been a voice teacher and choir director in the St. Cloud area for over twenty years, currently teaching 6th-8th grade choir and general music at South Junior High School. She holds an undergraduate degree in Music Education from Minnesota State University,
Mankato and a graduate degree in Choral Conducting from St. Cloud State University. In addition to singing with Five Good Reasons, Kristen has performed and provided music direction for several GREAT Theatre productions since 2002. Her favorite roles include “Mother” in Ragtime and “Lily” in The Secret Garden. In her spare time, besides singing and performing, Kristen enjoys working out at the YMCA, gardening, reading, and spending quality time with
her husband, Thor and two sons, Tyren and Bjorn.
Jay Ramos
Jay joined us in the fall of 2017. Jay has a background in a variety of vocal music performance settings, including Minnesota Opera Chorus, local theater. Jay is a family law attorney in the Saint Cloud area.
Scott Wachtler
IT worker by day (Scrummaster), Scott enjoys musical geekiness in his free time. While he tolerates the classics, he finds his groove with things like "Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog", "Science Wars", and "Dear Evan Hansen". He also likes to tinker with music of his own and hopes to one day find the "perfect chord" and bring hope and harmony to all!
